Philippe Abrams, a postal worker from the south of France, is involuntarily transferred—to the land of the "Ch'tis," as the northerners are nicknamed due to their dialect. Two worlds collide! Philippe soon realizes that, while he may not understand the Ch'ti dialect, the people are incredibly warm-hearted—especially Antoine, a fellow postal worker who quickly becomes his best friend. Meanwhile, his wife Julie makes his weekends back south feel like heaven on earth, and he finds himself happier than ever in the supposedly barbaric North. Everything is going perfectly—until the day Julie decides to come and join him.
